Blacksburg Transit will run expanded service on May 7th to accommodate the anticipated increased demand for the concert. BT is fare free for all riders. All routes (except Two Town Trolley) will drop off and pick up from the Cassell Coliseum bus stop, in addition to their normal routes from 2 PM until after the concert. ADA Service will begin at 1:30 PM.

The Cassell Coliseum bus stop is the closest bus stop to the concert venue, Lane Stadium.

To maintain consistency throughout the afternoon and evening, buses that are in service before the concert will remain in service throughout and after the concert. There will be extra buses in service from 2 PM through the end of the concert. 

At 2 pm, these changes go into effect:

  • HWA and HWB will be replaced with the HWC at 2pm.
  • PRG and TCR will be replaced with with the TCP at 2pm.
  • SMA will end service at 2pm (no service to Country Club Dr., Airport Rd., or Hubbard St.); the SMS will remain in service adding a stop at Fairfax Circle at 2 PM. 
  • These routes will remain in service: CRC, HDG, HWC, HXP, NMG, PHD, SMS, TCP and UCB until everyone is home from the concert. 

Additional Route information:

  • TTT will end service at 9:15 pm; there will be no return trips to Christiansburg after the concert.
  • CAS will end service at 10:15 pm, passengers can catch any route on Washington Street to return to the Perry Street Garage and bus loops.
  • SMS will remain in service for the remainder of the day. SME will not operate.
  • NMG will remain in service for the remainder of the day. NMP will not operate.

Service Delays

With significantly increased traffic both on campus and in town, delays to service are expected. We recommend heading to the bus stop early and planning for extra travel time. BT will do our best to maintain regular departures, however delays should be expected on all routes.

Getting to the Concert

If you're planning to take public transit to the concert, you're in the right place. Blacksburg Transit provides service from all over Blacksburg to Virginia Tech's campus and the concert venue. 

All BT routes (except Two Town Trolley) will drop off at Cassell Coliseum near the concert venue, Lane Stadium. Remember the 3 letter code of the bus you rode to the concert, the same route will take you home. 

After servicing the Cassell Coliseum bus stop, buses will service the Transit Center Loops before leaving campus. Buses will not stop at the Loops before servicing Cassell, riders wishing to transfer to other routes as the bus enters campus should exit the bus at the Wright House stop.  

 

Leaving the Concert

Buses will continue servicing Cassell Coliseum after the concert. To board a bus after the show, return to the sidewalk in front of Cassell Coliseum. Buses are designated by a three letter code, plan to ride the same route home that you took to the concert. BT staff in safety vests will be on site to help direct you to the correct route. 

While service is scheduled to end at 12:45 am the evening of the concert, if needed BT will continue providing service at Cassell Coliseum until there are no more passengers.

 

ADA Information 

BT will provide accessible transportation from the ADA parking area to the south end zone gate at Lane Stadium. At the ADA lot, you will be given a pass by Virginia Tech staff to use the ADA service. You will not be allowed to board the BT vehicle before or after the concert without this passPlease retain this pass for boarding before and after the concert.

Parking 

Blacksburg Transit does not provide parking. For parking information, please visit Parking Services at Virginia Tech. Once you're parked, BT can help you get from the lot to the stadium for the show.

CRC - Corporate Research Center Provides service to the Industrial Park and the Corporate Research Center. 
   
HDG - Harding Avenue Provides service to Ascot Lane (Windsor Hills) along Harding Avenue and Roanoke Street. 
   
HWC - Hethwood Combined 

Provides service to Hethwood Blvd, Tall Oaks, Heather Drive and Prices Fork to the Transit Center.

TCP - Toms Creek Progress Provides service to Toms Creek Road, Broce Drive, Progress Street, Patrick Henry Drive/University City Blvd. 
   
TTT - Two Town Trolley Provides service to the LewisGale Hospital Montgomery, Uptown Christiansburg Mall, Walmart, Laurel Plaza (Hobby Lobby area), Arbor Drive and Market Place. This route will not be in service after the concert. 
   
UCB - University City Boulevard Provides service to University City Blvd, Patrick Henry Drive and Progress Street.

 

 

 

FAQs

Can the bus take me home from the concert?

Yes! The same route that takes you to the concert will be in service after the concert to take you home. Note: The TTT will not be in service after the concert, there will be no return trips to Christiansburg.

How do I get from my parking spot to the stadium?

On Campus: BT provides service near most on-campus parking lots to the stadium, however it is possible the buses may already be full. In these situations walking may be quicker, but we understand this isn't always the best solution. ADA parking and shuttle service is available, more information can be found at Parking Services at Virginia Tech . All buses (except TTT) will service the Cassell Coliseum bus stop, the closest to Lane Stadium.

Off Campus: BT also services most areas in town. Check the list above for the closest route to you, or use our Trip Planner to find the closest stop. 

How much does it cost to ride the bus?

Nothing! BT is fare free for all riders. 

What is the closest bus stop to the concert?

The Cassell Coliseum bus stop is the closest bus stop to the concert venue, Lane Stadium. All BT buses entering campus (except TTT)will drop off at this bus stop. 

ADA vehicles are able to get closer and will drop off near the south end of the stadium, near Southgate Dr. For ADA parking information please visit Parking Services at Virginia Tech.
