BT is operating on a modified Full Service schedule in Blacksburg beginning March 22. While the BT facility will be closed to the public beginning 3/20, bus service is still running.

Blacksburg Transit, better known as BT by our riders, is the public transportation provider for Blacksburg, Virginia Tech, Christiansburg, and parts of Montgomery County in southwest Virginia.

Our services include the following:

  • Fixed routes that operate on a published time schedule and follow a designated route. The routes in Blacksburg are fixed routes, connecting major residential areas to the Virginia Tech campus and commercial areas. In christiansburg, a semi-fixed route, the Explorer, connects the residential areas to the downtown business district and the northern shoping district.
  • Demand response services pick up and drop off passengers at locations of their choosing. Reservations are required and in the case of BT Access certification of eligibility is required. In Christiansburg the Go Anywhere service is available for the general public to use.
  • Event Shuttles – BT provides public transportation for the following events for the Town of Blacksburg and Virginia Tech.
    • Virginia Tech: Special shuttles, including service for people with disabilities, are provided for major activities at Virginia Tech. These include:
  • Community Event Shuttles - BT provides shuttle service to major community-wide events sponsored by the Town of Blacksburg such as the Independence Day Fireworks and Steppin’ Out.
