The Virginia Tech Homecoming Parade is Friday, October 16! Several Blacksburg Transit routes will operate on detours during the parade, resulting in bus stop closures and temporary stop locations.
Affected Routes: BMR, CAS, SMS, SMA and HDG
Stop Closures & Route Detours
BMR (Beamer Way): Starting at 4:45 PM
- All stops along Stanger, Kent and Washington Streets, Beamer Way and South Stadium will be closed.
- BMR will service West Campus Dr and Chicken Hill parking lot.
CAS (Campus Shuttle): Starting at 6:00 PM
- All stops on Kent, Stanger and Washington Streets will be closed.
- CAS will continue to serve both Loops and West Campus Drive.
SMS & SMA (South Main Southpark & South Main Airport): Starting at 6:00 PM
- All Main Street stops between Prices Fork Road and Country Club Drive will be closed.
- Temporary Stops will be in place at the intersection of Airport Road and Country Club Drive and along Country Club Drive near the Kroger entrance.
HDG (Harding Avenue): Starting at 6:00 PM
- All stops on Main Street and Roanoke Street and Harding/Silverleaf Wbnd (#1517), Harding/Silverleaf Ebnd (#1504), and Harding/Patrick Henry Ebnd (#1506) will be closed.
- A temporary stop at the intersection of Patrick Henry Drive and Harding Avenue will serve riders who normally use Harding Avenue stops.
All detours are expected to end between 8 and 8:30 PM., at the discretion of the Virginia Tech Police Department.
